Udyam Aadhaar / MSME Registration Certificate

A proprietor may use a residential address as the business address and a personal bank account, provided the name on the account matches the PANPractical Note

Must be registered — an unregistered agreement alone is not accepted
Any one ownership document of the landlord — property tax receipt, electricity bill, or khata in landlord's name
If agreement is not registered, GST officer may raise a query or reject the application — get the agreement registered or obtain an additional NOC from the landlordPractical Note
Shared Premises (Consent basis)
Electricity bill for the principal place of business — compulsory for all premises types
Must be current / latest bill; preferred in the name of the entity or owner
NOC / consent letter from the owner — must be signed before a Notary Public or Magistrate (notarised)
Plain NOC on letterhead is NOT accepted; notarised NOC is required
Any one ownership document of the consenting owner — electricity bill, property tax receipt, or khata in owner's name
Shared-premises registrations receive the most scrutiny — ensure the NOC is notarised and the ownership document matches the NOC grantor's name exactlyPractical Note
If Applicable
Trade Name Proof
Udyam Aadhaar / MSME registration certificate — the trade name on this is accepted as trade name proof
Shop Act licence — if Udyam is not available, the shop act licence in the trade name is the next best document
If neither Udyam nor Shop Act licence is available in the trade name, a trademark certificate or GST amendment order from a prior registration may be accepted — discuss with the officerPractical Note
